McDonald's Offering McSpicy Chicken Wings

McDonald's is reportedly testing McSpicy Chicken Wings (bone-in) at select locations in the Chicago area. These wings are part of a broader "chicken menu test" that also includes new McCrispy Strips and grilled chicken sandwiches.

Current Testing Status (U.S.)

  • Availability: Currently limited to specific restaurants in Chicago.

  • Product Details: The wings are bone-in and feature the signature spicy, hand-breaded seasoning found in international "McSpicy" products.

  • Nationwide Status: No nationwide release in the U.S. has been confirmed yet. McDonald's often conducts regional trials before deciding on a broader launch.

Broader Chicken Menu Test

The Chicago trial is testing multiple new items simultaneously to expand the chicken lineup:

  • McSpicy Chicken Sandwich: A spicy filet (not just spicy sauce).

  • Grilled Chicken Sandwiches: Two versions—Deluxe and BBQ Bacon.

  • McCrispy Strips: Testing new seasoned and sauced variations, including Sweet Chili, Teriyaki, Kickin' BBQ, Garlic Parm, and Spicy Garlic.

  • Dipping Sauces: The return of Big Mac dipping sauce cups is also being tested alongside these chicken items.

International Presence

While new to the U.S., McSpicy Chicken Wings are already established permanent menu items or recurring favorites in international markets like:

  • India: A staple known for its intense heat from ghost chili peppers.

  • Australia: Recently added "Chicken McWings" to the permanent menu following successful trials.

  • Other Regions: China, Singapore, Malaysia, and parts of the Middle East.
