Of course with most historical timelines, there are those who disagree with the August 11, 1973 timeline of Hip-Hop's birth. However, regardless of where you sit concerning to when hip-hop started, with that date, it gives us an actual timeline to reverence and celebrate the culture yearly. No one else has previously come forward with a date of reference to celebrate. Only once the August 11, 1973 date became widely celebrated within the last 10 years or so, have detractors dispute the hip-hop birth date, with previous dates that weren't mentioned before.

A year leading up to the 50 year celebration of Hip-Hop, Dondre' "Donni-Oh!" Phoenix was looking to find a unique way to acknowledge Hip-Hop's golden year.

So in June of 2022, Phoenix began the creation of "Since '73", an apparel line, featuring t-shirts, hats and hoodies, dedicated to the foundational fundamentals of hip-hop.

In 2022 and 2023, "Since '73" released several t-shirts and hoodies.

In 2024, Phoenix regrouped, as his clothing store, Flavaz Clothing & Accessories (Urban Wear) was closing in on its 30 year anniversary.

He wanted to do something special to commemorate that as well.

In April of 2025, Phoenix put the plans together to coincide the two.
