Of course, we all know the impact Allen Iverson had on and off the court. He was a handful for anyone to guard.
Off the court he was a handful as well...
Much of it due to the fact, he was misunderstood.
Iverson has been six months clean from alcohol. It shows with his glow, his demeanor and candid, yet thoughtful answers to many questions presented to him during his most recent media run promoting his new book, "Misunderstood: A Memoir".
When speaking about his sobriety, A.I. said, looking at other people intoxicated, he now feels embarrassed by how he would "act" and "looked" when he was drinking.
Iverson said his only regret in the NBA was that he wasn't buying what Coach Larry Brown was selling to him during the beginning of his career.
He also learned early on that players like John Stockton and Kevin Johnson "thought" the game with their high IQ, which in turn, destroyed him when he faced them as a rookie.
A.I. continued, expressing the one player he looked up to and revered was Michael Jordan, even after the "infamous" crossover. Iverson looked up to him so much so, in his eyes, Jordan WAS actually "Black Jesus".
When asked which players he would've loved playing with, he named Shaq, a "healthy" Joel Embid, the Joker and Luka.
Allen Iverson's most misunderstood moment was the "Practice" rant.
