While some listeners appreciate the varying sonic palettes, the overwhelming critical and community consensus leans toward a mixed-to-negative reception, with severe criticism aimed at its bloated runtime and uninspired execution.

Drake split the 43 tracks across three distinct projects, each tackling a different musical lane: 

• ICEMAN (18 Tracks): The flagship rap and hip-hop focused album. It serves as the primary ground for his introspective lyrics, industry paranoia, and responses to his rap adversaries.

• HABIBTI (11 Tracks): An R&B-leaning project. It features smoother production, heavy use of auto-tune, and notable collaborations with artists like PARTYNEXTDOOR and Sexyy Red.

• MAID OF HONOUR (14 Tracks): A dance-music-inspired record heavily influenced by club music and house production. Its cover art features a photo of Drake's mother. 

ICEMAN is Drake addressing the aftermath of his 2024 feud. He directly confronts perceived betrayals and disses from fellow rappers, "friends", and corporate entities: 

• Targeting Kendrick: On the record, Drake takes aim at Lamar's conscious-rap styling and affluent lifestyle. On one track, he raps: "Handin' out turkeys on camera inside of your hood, then you go back to the hills."

• The Industry Hit-List: Drake spreads his focus across several figures who sided against him during the feud, taking explicit shots at LeBron James, DJ Khaled, A$AP Rocky, DeMar DeRozan, and Universal Music Group CEO Lucian Grainge.

• Label Speculation: Industry insiders and fans speculate the sudden dump of three albums was a tactical move to immediately satisfy his remaining three-album contractual obligations with Universal Music Group following recent legal tensions.

Dalton Higgins, a hip-hop analyst who authored Far From Over: The Music & Life of Drake and has taught university courses analyzing the artist’s career, suggests the rollout may be tied to contractual obligations with Universal Music Group (UMG).

“He recently tried to sue his record label UMG and reportedly feels a level of disdain for its president Lucian Grainge. There’s no other way to explain this,” Higgins said.

In 2025, Drake filed a lawsuit against UMG for defamation, alleging the label promoted and profited from Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us.” The case is now under appeal following a dismissal last October.

These three albums add to the album requirements of Drake’s high-value agreement with UMG in a fraction of the usual time, with his estimated $400 million deal signed in 2022 making the financial stakes enormous.
