Dame Dash's Film Company Sold For $100.50

Former hip-hop mogul Damon "Dame" Dash's film production company, Poppington LLC, was sold at a court-ordered auction for just $100.50

Details of the Sale

  • The Buyer: The company was purchased by Mike Muntaser, the CEO of Muddy Water Motion Pictures. Muntaser has been involved in long-running legal disputes with Dash and described the purchase as a "jab" at the former executive.

  • The Assets: The sale included the rights to several films in Dash's catalog, such as Honor Up, Too Honorable, the documentary Welcome to Blakroc, and We Went To China.

  • The Circumstances: The auction was held to help satisfy a portion of the roughly $1 million Dash owes from various defamation and copyright lawsuits. Reports indicate that only one bidder showed up for the auction.

Broader Financial Context

This sale occurred amidst significant financial turmoil for Dash in 2025:

  • Bankruptcy: In September 2025, Dash filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, reporting over $25 million in debt (including $19.1 million in back taxes) and claiming to have only $4,350 in total assets.

  • Roc-A-Fella Stake: Prior to this, his one-third stake in Roc-A-Fella Records was auctioned off to the State of New York in late 2024 to settle tax debts.

  • Other Asset Sales: In May 2025, a judge also ordered the sale of assets tied to The Dash Group, including his America Nu streaming service and CEOByDash platform, to settle a separate $100,000 judgment.

The situation is not funny, but somewhere in America, 50 Cent ,Cam'ron, Charlemagne and DJ Envy are all shaking their heads.

Lesson... Be humble and don't look down on others. Don't think you're any better than the next man. Those same people you dissed on the way to the top, will greet you on the way down...
