Why We Began
TFE Future & Media 101 For Our Future
Being in radio for 30 years, we've seen a lot of changes. As radio and TV have expanded to podcasting, the youth and adults alike, have gravitated toward that popular medium. We have been able to blend the two (radio and podcasting) together. Through our efforts, we want to share and show how both can work together hand in hand. Utilizing media, we give youth a positive, motivational and inspiring space to help create a positive vision for their future. Our program provides mentorship, activities, incentives, a sense of responsibility, a sense of hope, care and love, arming them with the tools of life to be successful.
Who Is It For?
Our program offers field trips to our local radio station, Live 97.5 FM in Salisbury, MD. It is available for students 6th grade through 12th grade. We also welcome youth community organizations and programs. Along with the radio station visits, we're mobile as well. In Wicomico, Dorchester, Talbot and Caroline Counties, as well as lower Delaware, we visit schools, community organizations and events with our pop-up studio.
Activities

Students will learn several aspects of radio/media, which include, formatting a radio show/podcast, show prep, writing & producing commercials, sales, partnering with record labels, selecting music, conducting interviews, deejaying and more.

We have guest music and professional executives speak to our youth.

We also have those who haven't had successful starts in life, but because of second chances and not giving up, have since become successful through perseverance, faith, support, wise choices and hard work, share their experiences with our youth.

Incentives
As an educational incentive, with the assistance of the educational supervisor, we will track each students' academic process throughout the semester and reward eligible students based on their grade performance.

Students will receive community hours

Straight A students will receive a pair of tickets to one of their chosen athletic events: The Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles or Washington Wizards (depending upon the season).

Straight A students could receive a $150 visa card in replace of the athletic event if they choose to do so.

Students with A's & B's, will receive a $50 Gift Card from Target, Walmart or Game Stop.

-Computer invented by Charles Babbage in 1822. 'Micral N' was the first personal computer developed in 1973. Personal computer entered market in 1983.
-Turntable invented in 1895 by Emile Berliner. Jimmy Savile claimed to be the first person to use two turntables and a microphone, at the Grand Records Ball at the Guardbridge Hotel in 1947.
-Handheld Cell Phone Invented by Martin Cooper of Motorola in 1973. Available to public in 1983.

In 2004 Adam Curry (a former MTV VJ) and Dave Winer (a software developer) found a way to download online radio broadcasts to an iPod—a game-changing device that had been released a few years earlier in 2001. That was the beginning of what we now know today as Podcasts.
