History

Through the influence of NYC legends Kool DJ Red Alert, Mr. Magic and Marley Marl, in 1989

Dondre "Donni-Oh!" Phoenix began his nearly 35 year adventure on the wheels of steel.

Basketball was Donni-Oh!'s plan "A" and music was his plan "B". After a stellar high school career, averaging 26ppg 7apg and 2spg, in 1989, Donni-Oh! was chosen as one of the top 500 high school basketball players in the nation. He was also selected as a McDonald's High School Basketball All-American nominee.

He narrowed his list of potential colleges to Boston College, Rutgers, Fordham University and Delaware, but he surprised everyone by staying home and chose the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore. There he earned All-MEAC honors, was third in the league in 3-point percentage and was University of Maryland-Eastern Shore Male Athlete of the Year.

Professionally, in 1993, Donni-Oh! played on the Atlanta Hawks' NBA Summer League team. He also played in the CBA with the Columbus Horizon, Quad City Thunder. In 1995, it was onto the ABA with the Lehigh Valley Lightning and in 1999 it was the USBL's Long Island Surf. He also played in Washington, DC's Summer Pro/Am Kenner League.

After basketball, Plan B began to take shape. During his time playing basketball, Donni-Oh! always found a way to "mix in" his second passion. In 1989, Donni-Oh! began a mixtape series entitled "Flavors", in which he continued through 2001.

Donni-Oh! eventually would become a force as an on-air personality. Known for his candid and honest takes on social issues, activism and astute historical hip-hop history, here's Donni-Oh!'s on-air history:
